We conducted several privacy and security studies which provide valuable insights for IoT manufacturers. To handle the steadily growing number of devices and services, users can employ digital assistants which rely on personal data. We identify user preferences about the interaction with privacy features of digital assistants. Among others, the amount of information is shown to the user, explainability of the digital assistant’s decision and the interaction of the user with the assistant turned out to be important. Users also value a playful and enjoyable interaction with the privacy features. Practitioners can use the results to develop user-centered and market-oriented privacy assistants.
